The CNY, 2010 (part 1)

Both my dad and mum come from big families, they have a lot of siblings, so the CNY is usually very happening for us.

This is the usual activity at my father's side  family, poker gambling. The lady in red shirt is my legendary aunt(I've mentioned bt her a few times in the blog), as the banker, and her two little devils won't give her a break. And the kids sitting in a circle including the two devils are my cousins. I'm the eldest daughter in the family.

While the men are playing mahjong, my popo was very busy in the kitchen. She was always the main cook during CNY, ever since...like forever. She can cook the best hakka dishes. Hakka dishes are generally aren't very delicate, they are served in very big portions. 

My popo very cute can! When she knew I was taking her picture she said "Aiyo, let you took my pic edi!"(in Hakka) She then proceeded to pose for my camera for another shoot! Hahaha.

I love my popo and she's one of my most favourite person in the world. I miss her!

And my mum was helping out!

These are the simple ingredients to the yummiest dishes of the year.(Actually every year it's the same thing and yet it's still the hottest!)

The 'Chai Choi', some vege and dried bean curd sticks(fuzhu) cooked with fermented bean curd, it must have a name for it I don't know what's it.

On day one of CNY, we can only eat vegetarian. Look at the variety of vegetarian dishes! I know they don't look very tempting because they are of a colour series(lol) but they are indeed very yummy, whatever u want, we have it in vegetarian version, fish, roasted goose/duck, pork ribs, chicken feet and etc., you name it, we have it.

Then before midnight , we 'open fast' by having a whole roasted pig. Too bad we(my immediate family) din stay long enough for the roasted pig. And the next day lion dance will come to every houses!! This is one of my favourite session. Too bad I didn't get to see it this year.

Had got nothing to do when my aunt was fighting the wars in the casino with the Lim's!

This is the 1st hamper I've ever bought and it's for my 'yifu' and family. Was expecting them to be happy over it(especially my 'yi' sis and bro), my 'yifu' asked me not to buy them anymore hamper because first, it's a waste of money and 2nd,they have got enough of snacks at home. =p Okie, bad choice of buah tangan.

The CNY Outfit Post

DAY 1

This is my day one outfit, some oriental rich tai tai look, muahaha, din mean to look like one, it's just something I bought last minute, not too bad I guess. On the same day we went to Genting, I din like gambling much but my aunt managed to win some RM2k and my bro and I got RM200 tips each,HAPPY!

DAY 2

Still the same shawl but a different look, if you can't tell, it's a jumper. I kinda like one-piece lately, no mix-matching fuss.

DAY 4

Went to Pahang to visit my 'yifu', doesn't matter if you don't know what's a 'yifu'. Wanted to look all ladylike and I actually put on a dress. But that means I couldn't ride on a motorcycle! To me the most fun part of it is to go 'long kai' on a motorbike at night and to feel the wind sweeping through your face and in your hair(I swear I once saw a shooting star across the sky while I was 'long-kaiing' there!). And hence this casual look.

DAY 6

And this was a usual catch-up with friends, nothing's special lo, just a simple dress, and the leopard print little bag again. Now I'm carrying the bag everywhere I go.

And today it's the day 7, it's 'yan yat'! We are supposed to 'lou sang' for auspicious means. But then my family din want to because they don't eat it. It's not like I want to eat, just for the fun of it and hoping for a better year ahead! *Fine, I'm superstituous.*

今年的圣诞不一样！ It's a different Christmas for me this year.

今年我哥就有幸在他的同事的引领下接触到了基督教。他从一个百分百的宅男转变成一个会参加社团活动，会想认识朋友，会主动关心别人的人。今天圣诞，他毅然决定要接受洗礼，成为一个真正的基督徒。

[I try to translate it, the content will be slightly different, I'm not that pro k!] My brother was a total Otaku before he got to learn about Christianity, his life was about online games and only online games. Now, we can see has changed to become a more caring and socially active person. And he decided to get baptized today on the Christmas.

我母亲也没有反对，她见他从电脑网络的虚幻世界走了出来，还有正常的社交活动,开心都来不及。

My mother wasn't against the idea,in fact, she was so happy to see the positive changes in him!

这是我第一次参加教会活动，我本身并不是基督徒。教堂里首先迎接我们的是天使般的声音。我好久没现场观赏这般美妙的歌喉了，让我全身鸡皮疙瘩。（其实这行程最让我印象深刻就是这一组唱诗班了）

This was my first time getting involved in a church activity,(my first time entering a church too) I myself isn't a Christian. The first thing that greeted us was the beautiful voices of the fellow chorists. I had not been watching such wonderful live performance for the longest time! They just made me broke into goosebumps.

The soprano solo was just perfect!


过后牧师演说了圣诞的意义与来由。

And the pastor explained the real meaning of Christmas.

再来就是重头戏，洗礼仪式。
Here comes the climax of the day(at least to me), the baptism.

右二褐白间条上衣就是我二哥。
The second from right, in brown and white stripes is my 2nd brother.

牧师：“今天..., ....你是否愿意?"
Pastor: "Today......, do you agree that...."

众人点头,呢喃: "愿意!"

People nodded and mumbled: "I do." (Apparently not only in wedding ceremonies they ask this question.)

牧师把圣水洒在信徒头上并为信徒祷告.
Pastor wetted fellow followers' heads with Holy Water and prayed for them.

这位老兄,你挡到我了.
Hello, you are blocking me.

我不是主角,没人替我拍照,唯有自己拍咯.

I wasn't the protagonist of the day and no one took photograph of me, so I took my own pictures. Especially when I purposely dressed up for this event!

过后还和我哥的两位弟兄姐妹到Ｋｕｃｈａｉ　Ｌａｍａ吃鱼头米粉．

After that, we went to Kuchai Lama for Fish Head Bihun.

 就是这家，你不管哪一天去都要排队．
This is the one, you'll have to queue any day you go.

远近驰名的鱼头米粉，我这碗是鱼滑粉．

The famous Fish Head Bihun, mine was Fish Balls Bihun,these fish balls aren't those ordinary fish balls you eat, they are more original and doesn't taste so 'processed'.

说回正题，和三位基督徒去吃饭，我就预料了会发生什么事．

Back to the topic, I already expected how it's like to have lunch with three Christians.

也不是第一次，他们开始向我说教义，和主的伟大．

It wasn't the first time already. They started to tell me how good is the religion and how great is God.

＂那个谁谁谁，原本是乩童，可是接触了基督教后．．．．．＂

＂Ｂ小姐，原本并不快乐，但是．．．．＂

＂我自己自小就没家庭温暖，家里两天一小吵，三天一大吵，可是．．．＂

＂Ｃ先生原本很抗拒耶稣，可是他来了教堂之后．．．．＂

They told me stories of Mr. A and Ms. C who embraced Christianity.

我对基督教并没抗拒，也没怀疑他们说的话，也觉得他们很真诚，但是我心里就是少了一份感动．
I am not against Christianity and neither did I doubt their genuity, but I wasn't touched by what they told me.

我不知从哪里读过，上帝的救赎是白白给你的礼物，如果你发自内心接受这份礼物，接受耶稣为救主，那你就和上帝建立了个人的关系．

I remember reading from somewhere, God's Salvation is a gift to you and only when you accept it sincerely by believing, then you start reconciling with God. (Something like that, I'm not very good in all the terms.)

可是我心里还带着怀疑和不确定．其他信徒们从怀疑到拥抱主，都会经历一个过程，就是．．

But I still have doubts and feel unsure. There is a typical process other followers will undergo from not believing to embracing...

＂我就是听到这首诗歌，眼泪就开始不住地流，我感受到主在我身边．．．＂

"It was when I heard this hymn, tears started rolling down my cheeks, I could feel Him..."

＂在我最沮丧低落之时，我听见一把声音．．．．＂
"When I was most depressed, I heard a voice telling me that..."


我都没有这样的感受，或许这和我本身比较冷酷和慢热的性格有关．信与不信，不能强求，若真有主，相信祂会有让我感动的一天．

I haven't felt anything like that, maybe this was due to the fact that I'm innately cold. Whether to believe or not, this isn't something you can change merely by words of mouth. If He is real, He will touch my heart one day.

而且，我对观音还有感情，虽然我也不是很虔诚的佛教徒．如果主是我＇父亲＇，观音就是我奶妈／养母了，我长大的过程中都是她在我身边，如果你从小是养母带大的，你会因为长大后重遇亲身父母而将养育你长大的养母的养育之恩忘个一干二净吗？

I'm not a devout Buddish but all the while it's GuanYin who stood by me (at least She is who I pray to when I have problems.). So put it this way, If God were my Father (this was what they kept telling me!), then GuanYin would have been my foster mother/nursing mother. If you are brought up by your adopted mother, will you abandon her when you find your real/biological father?

我哥的弟兄姐妹在午餐时说了一句话：
They also told me during the lunch:

＂主才是你的父亲，你不认自己的父亲而去认一个印度人为父亲！＂

"God is your real Father, not only you don't embrace Him and you go and treat an Indian as your Father."

啊，你这是种族歧视吗？

Pre-xmas Event and An Accident (mandarin)

圣诞节要到了，学院里散布着浓厚的圣诞气息，连讲堂里都有同学戴着圣诞帽来替沉闷的一堂课点缀着一点红。

别人在上课时，他们头上的雷达就晃阿晃的。

某学会还未即将来临的圣诞节办了圣诞喜庆。中午我们匆忙地吃过了午餐就赶过去凑热闹了。

迎接我们的是一座礼物山，只能看不能拿。=（

 

拍了照我们就四处逛，其实也没啥特别，就是卖食物，饰品和一些相关的圣诞小礼物。

圣诞糖果屋，能不能吃我也不清楚。

还有美女在台上献唱，还一个不小心唱走音了，好丢脸。

陆续有美女出场表演。

远处看是一片红海，红彤彤。喜庆的颜色。

还有一辆REDBOX van在驻守。每人可以免费唱一首歌，可是要排队换票，中午的票也拍完了。


其中比较有趣的小游戏是赶仓鼠。

他们应该是费了很多时间与心思去弄这个迷宫。一段仓鼠被放入迷宫，参加者就必须协助仓鼠穿过迷宫到达另一出口。

那仓鼠还真命苦。大热天还要被你们这些人类玩得团团转，我看到游戏中一只仓鼠被赶急了还会来一招‘狗跳墙’，凭感觉爬过重重‘墙壁’直达出口，真聪明。希望小仓鼠不会被大热太阳烤受了才好。



看着上课时间过了我们才赶紧走去课室。


路途上，我们远远就看到了一辆吊车。发生了什么事呢？

原来一辆‘威拉’不知怎么的失控越过了路旁的路礅和小沟渠，直撞向课室的方向。看来他是踩错油门了，冲力应该还蛮大的。幸好撞上的树把冲力挡了下来，不然直撞课室就不妙了，在上课的同学也应该已经吓个半死吧。人家还要留个小命过圣诞叻！

照片拍成这样因为我不敢明目张胆的拍，人家把车子撞成这样了，还像狗仔队地拍人家照片，被打都有知！
